We first launched this site because we wanted to publicly explore the myriad differences between consuming culture and producing culture. Here’s a partial reason why. → But, perhaps appropriately, we ended up publishing online elsewhere.
Some folks have expressed a reasonable concern that the title “Making Culture” could imply to some that we think we don’t have a culture. This is a common thought among privileged white people. It is not our intent to make invisible or participate unintentionally in our culture. Thus the interest in the distinction between consumption and production of culture. However, given the possible misconceptions of using a title like “Making Culture,” we are uncertain about what to do with this domain name.
